Cover Shover
The dangerous process of removing and replacing manhole covers is a major cause of back injuries and worker compensation claims in the telecommunications, utility and sewer industries. What are your crews using now to remove manhole covers - a hook or crowbars which require lifting and putting tremendous strain on the back? How many times have you heard about toes or fingers getting caught or crushed when pulling a cover or when trying to free a frozen or tarred-over cover with a hammer?
The Western Progress model 1050 Cover Shover is a remarkable, patented tool designed to open manhole covers quickly, effortlessly and safely.
The Cover Shover uses basic principles in a tool designed for one specific purpose - the safe removal of manhole covers - and does not rely on worker strength or other tools to get the job done.
Features:
Pays for itself many times over by reducing back injuries and costs associated with worker down time
Rugged, carbon steel construction and hardened tip to provide years of trouble-free service
Reduces the risk of injuries to the back, hands, fingers and feet
Eliminates the use of hooks, screwdrivers, pry bars and hammers
Lightweight and compact - only 17 Lbs
Easily operated and maneuvered - no awkward set-up procedures

The Cover Shover features a powerful built-in slide hammer that chops effortlessly through frost, ice and tar without the dangers associated with hammers and chisels. The slide hammer action easily vibrates the cover to break the seat seal.

The Cover Shover uses a carbon steel tooth to catch and grab the ribs located on the underside of the cover.

By simply pushing down on the handle of the Cover Shover and pulling back, a worker can easily remove a 500+ pound lid without bending or dangerous lifting.
